City Rhythm founder Niles Ramadhin first visited St. John in 2015. The island captivated him so completely that it propelled him to dive deep into the art of perfumery — to find a way to bottle that feeling of standing barefoot on warm soil, biting into sun-ripened fruit straight from the tree, and breathing in tropical breezes so alive they feel like they belong to another world.

He took classes. He studied under experienced artisanal and indie perfumers. He dedicated himself to the tropical sector of perfumery with an unrelenting purpose. But then his father died, and he lost interest entirely.

One night, he had a dream. His father's hand reached through the window of his perfume studio and pointed directly to a bottle of quince among his materials. He woke the next morning and added quince to the formula he had been struggling with. Everything clicked. It was the missing link — the note that completed the fragrance and gave him the strength to finish what he had started.

THE SCENT

Top Notes — Guava · Quince · Lime · Coconut Pulp The opening is a vivid, sun-drenched burst of authentic Caribbean fruit. Guava leads — ripe, tropical, and slightly floral, with a sweetness that is distinctly island rather than synthetic. Quince adds an unexpected, slightly honeyed fruitiness — delicate and mysterious, the note that came in a dream and completed everything. Lime delivers a bright, zesty citrus spark that keeps the opening fresh and alive. Coconut pulp — raw and creamy rather than sweet — grounds the tropical opening with a warm, natural richness. Heart Notes — Lavender · Passion Fruit · Cane Sugar The heart evolves into something warm, slightly floral, and intoxicatingly sweet. Lavender — aromatic, slightly herbal — adds an unexpected elegance that lifts the tropical heart into something more refined and sophisticated. Passion fruit bursts alongside it with a complex, multi-layered tartness — sweet, slightly sharp, and unmistakably Caribbean. Cane sugar weaves through everything with a clean, natural sweetness — not the synthetic sweetness of candy, but the warm, slightly caramelized sweetness of raw island sugar cane in the afternoon sun.
